Mechanism of steel
fibre in concrete
Nowadays, steel fibre
reinforced concrete is widely used in tunnel
construction. The reason lies in the fact that steel
fibres can transmit tensile stresses at concrete cracks.
A remarkable increase in ductility and tensile strength
can be ensured, resulting from adding of steel fibre
into brittle concrete. With its anchor hooks at both
ends, a wire fibre can transmit tensile stresses,
decrease the crack opening.
